COMMUNITY PLUGINS WORKSHOP

Community Plugins workshop is a collaborative effort that aims to design a prototypical intervention in Raval, using micro-architectures as civic infrastructure to articulate informal, organic and self-managed programs to foster collaboration and social cohesion throughout the district.

Goal:

Identify informal, organic and self-managed collaborative logics among residents of the same neighbourhood community in the city of Mumbai and explore spaces of opportunity in the city of Barcelona where similar logics may be implemented to effectively improve social cohesion. Mumbai will provide programmatic exploration while Barcelona will provide socio-spatial framework.

Research Field:

Mumbai: Informal, organic and self-managed dynamics of neighbourhood collaboration.

Barcelona: Opportunity spaces to adapt and implement collaboration dynamics discovered in Mumbai to improve social cohesion at micro-district scale (“superblocks”, i.e., communities of approximately 5,000 inhabitants).

Location:

Mumbai: TBC

Barcelona: Barri del Raval (District of Ciutat Vella-Old City)
